But what is TPN?
TPN stands for Triple Pole and Neutral. TPN distribution boards are used primarily in commercial and industrial settings to manage electrical distribution. They work similarly to single-phase boards by dividing power into subsidiary circuits while providing protection. However, unlike single-phase boards, these boards deliver power through three phase conductors (L1, L2, L3) and a neutral conductor (N), making them ideal for environments requiring three-phase power, such as warehouses and factories. Due to these three phase conductors, TPN is also commonly referred to as Three Phase and Neutral - this is because the three conductors receive the power at 120 degrees out-of-phase from each other.
TPN boards are particularly useful in installations with emergency generators, handling two separate power supplies. They often include main switches, MCBs, RCBOs, surge protection, and accessories like mounting brackets and security locks. TPN circuit breakers are commonly used in larger commercial and industrial buildings to operate heavy machinery, motors, and HVAC systems where a higher load is required.

Their new TPN Distribution Boards, available in 3, 7, 11, and 15 usable ways, each complete with 10kA devices, a factory-fitted 125A 4-pole main switch, and a T2 Surge Protection Device have been widely received as another triumph from this Scottish based company. With a strong emphasis on quality and practicality, the new FuseBox TPN distribution boards are perfectly suited for commercial, industrial, and even domestic settings.
The design includes a factory-fitted 125A 4-pole main switch and T2 SPD as standard, alongside 10kA devices such as MCBs, RCBOs, and RCDs. The robust pan assembly features device end stops, and a unique hinged front cover assembly adds convenience. The boards are equipped with large, easy-to-terminate earth and neutral terminal bars, with shrouded neutral bars for added safety. Removable gland plates on both the top and bottom ensure smooth-edged cable entry, and the boards are compatible with FuseBox 6kA devices without any need for modification. An extension box option is available, and a coin slot door lock is included for added security. The boards are manufactured in accordance with BS EN61439-3 standards.
